Recreating my childhood

I never say, " Oh, to be a kid again." Being middle aged is definitely the greatest period of my life so far. In fact, I often, literally, thank God, I'm not a kid again. On the other hand, I actually had a delightful childhood as childhoods go.

This past year I have hunted for, found, and bought two special toys I had as a child. The organ grinder "Monkey Ola" was a favorite when I was entertaining an audience. The ranch phone was the only phone I ever had in my room growing up. These 45+ year old toys take me back, and I really like the feelings and the memories they provide.

My world was much smaller then as I spent my first 18 years in the same house in a very small town. I guess there is something comfortable about that. I think the only thing I really miss about being a child is having my parents and grandmothers.

I do think these very special ebay finds will forever bring a smile to my face.

Comments:
you know Amanda, those must be special Texas toys :) I don't remember either one of them from my childhood and we're from the same generation!

Monkey ola is a Mattel toy.
The ranch phone was made by Gong Bell Toy co. Come on now, I don't think Texas has a toy company. Teehee.
